Updating Api licence activation key

Hi.
Im trying to update the Api licence activation key, copy and paste the key and the email
directly from my profile account but it returns this error : Invalid Instance ID
the reason im trying to update is this message in my Virtue premium theme :
The theme update API License Key has not been activated! Click here to activate the license api key.
This theme is not activated! To get theme updates you must activate your theme! Click here to activate the license api key.
Not sure what it means and the theme IS activated
