Simple Products not completing automatically

Another quick question – might there be a setting or reason why my few ‘simple products’ are not autocompleting their orders once the payments are cleared? It’s not happening at all with variable products, just the simple ones. I’ve tried clicking both ‘virtual’ and ‘downloadable’ and can’t seem to get the mix right.
