Hey guys – the automated schema.org/structured data output on blog posts really needs some updating. As someone that does a lot of technical SEO work I can say that there is even a slight possibility that it’s hurting some sites. Either way I wanted to raise it here for someone to correct as it shouldn’t be too hard.

Here are some points:
1) Microdata is used, which validates but is outdated. JSON-LD is preferred.
2) The entire article content is listed in both the “articleBody” and “description” fields. “articleBody” is not needed, and description should be under 110 characters according to the Google Guidelines:
3) The logo and image fields return errors, as they have specific requirements

Would love to see improvements made on this, or some way to temporarily disable the output by perhaps commenting it out of that’s possible.

Thanks
