Revolution slider not shrinking down on mobile devices

I have a revolution slider that views fine on desktop but even though it is set as responsive it stays big on mobile view and you can only see a portion of the image. I thought if you selected responsive that it automatically detected the size of the users screen and changed accordingly.
Do I have to create a separate slider for mobile? Or am I missing something that makes the revolution slider shrink down to mobile view? I am sure on another site I created that the slider automatically viewed fine on mobile…
