Restricting portfolio permission

Hello,
Using the members plugin, I created a new member type (copied from author); I would like to restrict this role from writing portfolio.
Unfortunately, I cannot use the members plugin to adjust portfolio writing capacity. Is there a setting or a snippet I could use?
