I am having a hard time at with featured images and other images, I have auto compression set up in my WordPress Woocommerce store with Smush Pro.

I had an image on the home page just below the menus in the header which was uploaded to my server and that I just added with HTML in WordPress Home Page for when I have special sales, the image was scaled and compressed to a size of 71KB and still it was showing as as too large for FCP and LCP and and Page Speed Insights Tests and Hummingbird Pro.

Insights show a 73 score for Mobile which is being attributed to FCP (First Contentful Paint) and LCP (largest contentful element painted within the viewport) for that image.

so I removed it and now…

I am getting the same fails for FCP and LCP except now it is being attributed to the featured images of the products on the home page since that image described above is no longer on the front page.

The featured images are also showing as not correctly sized for container.

I attached a screenshot of the front page with that sale image, which I have now removed for testing.

I am at my wits end as this seems to be the greatest issue for my page speeds in mobile (scored a 73 on Speed Page Insights) and Google Search Console is dinging me on Mobile Speed. Desktop speed is at 97.

How can I fix this featured image issue, I have hundreds of products so to scale each one manually would be impossible? I also want to continue to place my image for special sales as well, but I can’t make it any smaller than 71kb.
