(Pro) Dynamic content with Advanced Button?

Advanced Button seems to support custom fields. That is, when I:
Place a Kadence advanced button
Click the “Dynamic Content” icon
Click the “Dynamic Link” icon
Select “Enable dynamic link slider
Under “Link”, select “Post Custom Field”
then, in the “Custom Field” dropdown, I am presented with fields that I created in ACF and/or in Metabox.io.
However, selecting these does nothing on the output: the button comes out empty.
Is this meant to work with these other field plugins? (@Ben Ritner appears to say here that it should.)
To clarify, I have tried this with both text fields and URL fields.
