Elements appearing faded on editing page

Hi there
I’m trying to build an art website – colour is everything. However, whenever I add any elements in the editing page (whether images or text), they appear faded. They appear fine on preview, but it’s making it really tricky to build the site.
Can anyone tell me what I’m doing wrong?
