Recently, my host finally updated permissions on the two sites I have running Virtue Premium (with a child theme)—I have asked for years, and they finally “got to it.” One of the sites updates fine from its dashboard now (previously, it insisted on FTP credentials and then just errored out because of the permissions issue). On the second site, plugins update fine, but, when I try to update Virtue Premium 4.2.3 to the 4.2.4 version in the WP dashboard, the dreaded FTP stuff pops up again. I dutifully enter pertinent info (password, etc), the upload begins, and then I get this error message: An error occurred while updating Virtue – Premium: Could not copy file. virtue_premium/assets/img/icons/menu_icons.png
The host has changed all user/permissions to the same name, except for what appears to be two directories, and those are “root.” Is there a permissions setting necessary to update the theme that I (or the host) may have overlooked? I’ve tried setting it all to 777 (yikes!) but to no avail.
I cannot manually update the theme, because I’m already running 4.2.3 and the latest available for download in My Account is 4.1.9.
Any advice/ideas?
Thanks!
