blog grid show date rather than calendar icon

Hi Guys,
On our blog page we have a Blog Grid and under the Entry Title there’s the Subhead area with the icon for the calendar which shows the date when you hover.
We want the date to display there as text rather than hovering over the calendar. I can’t see options for that in the Blog Options…?
