help with products display

Hi! i have enable related products for my shop and i have 2 issues i would like some help with:
1) i see it randomaly shows only other products from same category and even if i try selecting manually specific items inside produtc options it wont show them. i want to have cross sales but olny see i can manualy add items to the “you may also like” and not to the related products… how can i change this default same category thing?
2) in mobile version i see a big picture of the related product as bis as the main product image instead of showing at least 2 small pictures of the related carrousel which may cause some confusion…how can i make it apear 2 samll pictures with some css
