Change portfolio names on dashboard

Hi Team,
Please could you recommend a way for me to change the portfolio items in the Dashboard (Admin) menu?
I currently have:
Portfolio
All Portfolio
Add New
Portfolio Type
Portfolio Tags
Taxonomy Order
I would like to have:
Dog for adoption ads
All Ads
New Ad
Ad Type
Ad Tags
Taxonomy Order
I found a fix on another forum but it is writing loads of errors to my log so I’d like to replace it.
