Search input box and font size is huge

Hi,

we are dropping the topbar because it only had the search and vertical space is precious.

Before it looked like this:

Now we converted this to:

That is disabled the topbar, enable My Account and Search on the main menu itself.

All fine, except when you click on the Search button the search input field is just huge:

Is there a way to make this less “into your face”.

I really like how this is handled by the Pinnacle theme which we use on another website:

Would something like this be possible with Virtue? Or at least something that does not look so “HUGE” (font size, input box width/height, icon size).
